Parrot has released a new RC Toy called the AR.Drone, which is a quadricopter that can be controlled either by your iPhone or iPod Touch via WiFi connection. The AR.DRONE is basically an R/C helicopter that comes with four blades, but what makes it cool is you can use the iPhone or iPod Touch to control it.
The iPhone or iPod Touch has the accelerator built-in, allows it to detect the way you tip the iPhone and maneuver the AR.Drone accordingly. The AR.Drone is also equipped with a few cameras which allow you to view the journey which the AR.Drone is going through on your iPhone. It also has a camera at the bottom that keeps track if its speed to help it main a still flight.
Parrot has also released the REDMINE open API platform, which developers can use to develop augmented reality games through the iPhone or iPod Touch. The AR.DroneRC copter will be available for purchase sometime this year, although the price and availability are still unknown currently. Watch the clip of the RC toy in action below.
