ioSafe SOLO SSD emphasizes a lot on its protection to your data. It’s an SSD meant for protecting your data in worst case scenarios such as house fires or floods. The drive is actually housed in a military-grade steel case, called ArmorPlate, that protects your data from fire, shock, water and even the collapse of two-story building or 5,000 pounds of crushes etc.
At CES, the ioSafe Solo SSD had gone through some serious abusive tests. It was run over by a 35,000-pound tractor and burnt with fire. And amazingly, it survived all these tests and the drive successfully read the photos copied onto it before the tests.
The technical specs of the SOLO SSD claims that it can withstand 5,000 pounds of crush force, a 20 foot drop, fire up to 1,550 degrees F for up to 30 minutes, as well as 30 foot dunk in water for several days. The tests at CES seem to be very close to what the maker claims.
The ioSafe Solo SSD ranges from $499 for the 64GB version to $1,250 for the 256GB model. If you wished your data to survive much longer than you do on earth, you should get a SOLO SSD to house your data. Watch the clip below on how it was tested.
