Here comes the Wii Classic controller to USB adapter, which allows you to connect a classic Wii game controller to your computer’s USB port for playing PC games. So you’ll get back the same excitements that you’ve had with a Wii game console.

The Classic game controller USB adapter allows you to enjoy your PC-games using all the Wii Classic controller’s buttons, D-pads and analog joysticks. The adapter also comes integrated with turbo and auto fire. It’s definitely a handy one which allows you to put your semi-retired classic game controllers to good use.

I have had one of these since early January and I frigging love the heck out of it. Before I got this adapter I was using an older PSX pad to USB adapter (also from Mayflash) as an upgrade from my Saitek P880 whose plastic rocker d-pad got snapped off.
The PSX to USB model did its job fine, but the “separated arrows” style of the D-Pad wasn’t as comfortable as the oldskool full cross. I was always trying to find something better than the stock Dual Shock and the best I found was an old clear orange Madcats pad, it had a nice soft D-pad but the flat sunk in Start / Select buttons were another irritation, you needed thick fingernails just to push ‘em so I ended up cutting the tops off some LED’s and super gluing them to those buttons to make them easier to hit.
Ever since I first laid hands on the Classic Controller at a friend’s house playing his VC games I’d thought “Man, it’d be great to use this with my roms” and now its possible, without all the extra stuff needed with the Bluetooth + Wiimote + Glovepie method and it’s only $16 with free s&h if you check Ebay. The unit registers in Windows from the get-go, so I chucked the bundled software CD and loaded up Joy2Key instead, I set up my profiles for everything I play and it works great.
I have two profiles for every emulator I use (one for playing the game, and one where Select is Escape / Alt-Enter, analog stick is mouse, dpad navigates romlist, L and R are mouse wheel scroll and Y is left click). I have the Home button set up in J2K as my Profile Switcher (so long as the last profile is set to switch to the first, they’ll loop indefinitely).
I can change games or even emulators without getting up from the couch (got the Svideo running to the TV). All I need to do is switch to the Mouse profile and bring up J2K and click the other emu’s profile.
The Wii Classic is one of the best gamepads I’ve ever held, dare I say even better than the SNES. The dpad is perfect, Start And Select are further up the face of the pad so no fumbling over the analog sticks to get to them, and speaking of the sticks they have those cool ridges that keep you in the right direction.
In my opinion this is one of the best products Mayflash has made and it makes playing the classic games on PC so much more fun.
