DisplayLink is likely to prep some USB 3.0 compliant monitors to be showcased in CES in January. The super high speed of USB 3.0 will become the major threat to VGA, DVI and HDMI ports.
With the support of USB 3.0 standard, the USB 3.0 DisplayLink monitors will be able to transfer video at a speed of up to 4.8 gigabits per second. This enables USB monitors to be paired with advanced GPU to display high-def video contents.
USB ports are now commonly available on every PC and USB 3.0 ports will be soon widely available in future computers. And even the cheapest netbooks will get USB 3.0 ports later, which allow connections to a number of monitors without needing to use DVI or VGA ports. The USB 3.0 DisplayLink monitors are expected to hit the store shelves by Christmas of 2010.
