A solution is being developed by Panasonic and their newly partnered Sanyo, which uses Lithium-ion battery to serve as your home’s power backup system when other sources of electricity are out (solar, wind etc). This backup power system is able to sustain your energy requirement when the main sources aren’t available.
The Lithium-ion backup power system claims to be able to power up your home for an entire week. The battery will also be paired with a system that allows the user to monitor the usage of electricity on TV. The company plans to roll out the backup battery system by the year of 2011.
The system sounds promising and it’s considered more efficient than the existing fuel cells for home use.
