Affordable GPS phone : Nokia 2710 Navigation

Nokia 2710 GPS phone
The Nokia 2710 Navigation edition is Nokia’s most affordable GPS-enabled phone that comes loaded with the Nokia Maps. The Nokia 2710 GPS phone costs only 110 Euro, which is very worth for drivers who want an affordable phone which can also be used as a navigation device.

The Nokia 2710 Navigation has almost everything that a full-fledged navigation device has. It offers turn-by-turn driving directions with voice guidance and point-to-point straight line navigation with the help of a digital compass.

The device is loaded with quite a number of relevant maps which allow it to be used even no Internet connection. And the company will continue to add more coverage for the maps.

On the phone itself, it comes with pretty basic features including a 2 megapixel camera, 2.2-inch LCD display, and FM tuner. The phone should start sales in Q2 of 2010.

OK, so I recently purchased the 780 through Amazon and took it on a road trip. I love it! I was borrowing the Magellan 4350 prior to my purchase. It’s touchscreen is much faster, it’s TTS is less wordy and pronunciations are more accurate. One of my favorite features is the on-screen speed limit which has been incredibly accurate. The menu layout is much simpler than Magellan, you can get where you want in the menus from whichever screen you are on, rather than weeding through the layers of Magellan. You can add on-the-fly via points (bathroom breaks, fast food, etc) with much faster searches. You can zoon way in on the map and points of interest icons appear which you can tap and get info and add to your trip. It is just REALLY easy to use and works the way you think it should, unlike the Magellan.

Also, if you’re even considering the 760 instead, why? You get a $100 MSN direct cable for about $20 more just by purchasing the 780. I enjoyed having the live traffic around Cincinnati when I travelled. Also, used the movie times feature with MSN.

I’m so glad I got the Garmin over the Magellan, I can’t think of a single reason I would choose the other way around.

I want to know that 2710 navigation will require internet connection for GPS navigation. My meaning is i want to see maps worldwide without any extra charge to be paid for service provider. Please give me clarity whether this phone GPS function works directly to a satellite without need of service provider(A-GPS). My need is to view world maps with the assistance of direct satellite. No extra charge to be paid to service provider apart from normal call charges. Please light me & clear on this confusion
