ZiiLABS announces Trinity, 3.5G Smartphone dev platform

ZiiLabs have announced the Zii Trinity, the company’s first smart phone development platform, that’s based on their StemCell ZMS-05 processor and comes with quadband GSM and triband WCDMA/HSDPA supports.

The Trinity features a 3.1 inch 800×480 OLED capacitive touchscreen display. it supports 1080p full HD with accelerated OpenGL ES 3D graphics. The Zii Trinity also packs most common features of smartrphones, including WiFi b/g, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a 5-megapixel camera at the back supports autofocus, a front-facing camera for video calls and a microSD card slot.

It also offers connectivity such as USB 2.0 port, HDMI and composite video output. The TRINITY will run both the Creative’s Plaszma OS or Google’s Android platform and is packed with a 1,130mAh battery pack.

Unfortunately, the Zii Trinity smartphone dev kit is not meant for the public. It’s meant for cellphone manufacturers only. The package comes complete with schematics, Gerbers, mechanical drawings, Board Support Package, middleware and OS. Future versions also include support for 4G networks such as WiMax and LTE. The Zii TRINITY Platform can be supplied to potential cellphone manufacturers as a complete design package including schematics, Gerbers, mechanical drawings, Board Support Package, middleware and OS.


A Zii Development Kit ‘3G Phone Edition’ provides a modular development platform that enables developers the flexibility to innovate around the Zii TRINITY platform to create product solutions based on their own preference of hardware components. The Zii Development Kit supports both the ZMS-05 and the recently announced ZMS-08 processors.


Future versions of the Zii Development Kit Phone Edition will be made available for 4G networks such as WiMAX or LTE.
