Murakami rocking chair powered by motion
Today’s technology makes it possible for some simple motion to generate sufficient electricity to power some simple gadgets. Designer, Rochus Jacob has proposed a rocking chair that comes integrated with an OLED lamp which can provide sufficient light for you while you’re rocking in the chair, reading your favorite story. The best is the lamp of this chair is powered by your rocking motion.

Besides, OLED lamp also consumes comparatively low power, making it possible to be powered by little electricity generated by the rocking motion. The chair has advanced nano-dynamo technology built in to the skids that generates electricity for the lamp. OLED technology also allows the lamp to be easily bendable to suit different angles of your reading.

And of course, the OLED reading lamp can be turned off during the day time and the generated power will be stored into the internal battery, which can then power the lamp even you’re not rocking.

Very Cool. And very green :) What exactly is “advanced nano-dynamo technology” though….

Is it a mercury switch? Some kind of Piezoelectric touch pad sensor in the rocking pads?
