NEC’s Aterm WM3300R claims to be the world’s smallest WiMAX router with wireless LAN support. This little router is almost palm-sized, measures at only 94mm x 67mm x 22mm and weights for 145grams.
With the Aterm WM3300R WiMAX router, you’ll be able to share your WiMAX Internet connection with a few of your pals who connect via WiFi. The WiMax router also comes with embedded wireless LAN (BG), offering mutilple SSID functions and basic security protocols of wireless LAN such as WEP and WPA (TKIP/AES).
The NEC WiMAX router can also be connected to your computer directly as a WiMAX USB adapter via the USB port. The device is definitely a great one to bring on the run. It’s powered by an internal lithium-ion battery that provides 2.5 hours of continuous use. It’ll be available in early November in Japan for 25,000 Yen or around $272. No news whether it’ll go to other countries.
