1TB portable HDDs are easily available. So they will be the primary portable storage drives that most users will bring along anywhere they go. Thus, there will be a need to take good care of the security of the data on these high-capacity hard disk drives.
The newly announced Origin Storage 1TB HDD has been incorporated with additional hardware encryption to protect its data. It’s also been given a promising name called Data Locker Secure Drive, to give the users more confidence on the security that it imposes to your data.
The Origin Storage 1TB external HDD is available in two versions. The Pro editions come with 128-bit AES encryption and the Enterprise version with 256 bit. These external HDDs are powered via USB port. It’s enclosed in a rugged case that should well protect it from drops. It’s equipped with an LCD display that shows status information and also comes with 2.5-inch SATA drive featured inside.
To access the drive, you’ll need to enter a 18 digit PIN number on the LCD screen. Since the HDD provides hardware encryption, you don’t need to install additional software on the computer that it’s plugged into. It is also able to detect brute force attacks, and with self destruct mode. The 1TB Pro version costs £399 (or about $650).
