Novatel MiFi HSPA router
MiFi is a pocket-sized HSPA-based 3G router which allows the user to bring along, hook up to 3G/HSPA Internet connection and share with the friends on the run. The MiFi pocket router is the product of Novatel, has now had new features added, which are the support of Eye-Fi, VPN and NAS. These new features require the MiFi models that use an application processor found in the European MiFi 2352 and the MiFi 2372 distributed through AT&T and Rogers in North America.

One of the interesting features brought by Nomadesk to the MiFi is the application allows the MiFi to be used as a NAS which the storage media is just a tiny microSD card inserted into the MiFi router. So, contents stored on a microSD card can then be shared among your friends connected via WiFi. And some more it can be synced to cloud-based storage system.

The new Eye-Fi integration of this MiFi pocket router allows the users to automatically upload images to web portals. Pictures can be transferred to the MiFi for storage and uploaded to the Internet via the 3G/HSPA connection. The MiFi also gets a security app developed by Alcatel-Lucent that aims at businesses. This app will automatically install software patches and the latest anti-virus pattern.

The added functionality will be initially available through the versions distributed by AT&T and Rogers, a T-Mobile version is also expected to arrive later. The MiFi 2200 device sold through Sprint and Verizon lack the hardware specs required for the new features.
