Ooma, a small company which has shown off their DECT 6.0 cordless and VOIP in one phone system, Telo, back in January at CES this year, has now finally released the system.
The Telo system is now finally in the store after the 10-month wait and carries a price tag of $250. The system can be hooked up with corded and cordless handsets, and the best is it allows you to make Internet or VOIP calls, which is free for domestic calls within US and at low price for International calls.
Just pay for $250 to get the Telo phone system, and you can enjoy unlimited domestic calls for free. And you get attractive features on the Telo DECT, such as caller ID and access to online call logs without additional charges. It will cost you $39.99 if you intend to port over your existing phone number, but getting a new number does not cost you anything.
Basically, the new Ooma Telo system is much sexier in design than its predecessors. Ooma also plans to roll out the handsets for the system in November, which each costs you $49.99 and the system allows you to hook up to 6 handsets.
It seems everything at very low or almost zero cost for the users. But the company does offer a premium service that costs $9.99 on a monthly subscription basis which you’ll get the followings:
1. Enhanced VoiceMail – This feature allows you to listen to voicemail through the system’s speakers and some more you can forward voicemail to a mobile phone or computer to listen.
2. Call screening and intercept – Listen through the speaker as callers leave their voice mail. Pick up at anytime to answer or tap a key to send the call away.
3. Personal and community blacklist – Ooma maintains a database of those blacklisted telemarketers and phone spammers. You can have the option block unwated callers or send them directly to the voicemail.
4. Multi-Ring: Configure your Ooma system to simultaneously ring or forward a call to a mobile phone.
5. Three-way Conferencing: Easily talk to two parties at once with easy three-way conference calling.
6. Personal Number: Choose a second number anywhere in the U.S. and have it ring distinctively so you know who the call is for.
7. Instant Second Line: Always have an available dial tone even if someone else is using the phone; users can also make or take a second call without missing a beat. (This feature requires an Ooma Telo Handset, which will be available in November.)
You’re encouraged to get the Premium package, and if you sign up for a year, it offers you free number porting (a 39.99 value).
