Intel has a better technology of transferring data between your computer and other connected gadgets, which uses fiber optic technology called Light Peak that shall deliver at least double the speeds of the current USB 3.0 can do (5 Gbps).
Light Peak claims able to transmit data in both directions in super high speeds of 10Gbps. And it’s already been used on pre-production chips and could be ready to ship next year. Some more Intel claims that Light Peak could easily reach a whopping speeds of 100Gbps in next decade.
Light Peak technology allows computers and other gadgets connected together using fiber optic lines. But fiber optic cables have been known to be very costly. Even though, Intel could make this technology mature and out in the market next year, but I doubt if it’ll get as popular as others as it could be restricted by its expensive costs of implementation. Anyway, it’s a good idea to continue striving for higher data transfer speeds.
