
Supercomputer is no more a massive machine as big as your fridge. The latest supercomputer, SGI Octane III has surfaced, is a supercomputer that comes in the size of a standard desktop computer.
The Octane III personal supercomputer is meant for personal use, for those who need high power of processing and the best is it takes up the same amount of space as your average desktop computer.
The SGI Octane IIT is on a pedestal, with a 1 x 2 foot form factor, comes with easy to use features, supports standard office power outlets and is quiet in operation. The Octane III can have up to 80 high-performance cores and up to 1 Terabyte of RAM. CPUs for this supercomputer include Intel Xeon 5500 series, Dual-core Atom processors and Xeon 3400 processors. The machine can also be fitted with a NVIDIA GP-GPU card. Despite the size like desktop, but it’s priced at super high price starting at $7,995.
