Sony Ericsson Satio is the latest camera phone of the company that has just been announced. The Satio comes packed with a 12.1 megapixel camera which is powerful enough for most shots. And the Satio runs the Symbian OS S60 5th edition, which is usually found on Nokia cellphones such as Nokia 5800 and N97.
The SE Satio only measures about 13 mm in thickness but the 12.1 megapixel camera of this phone comes with a built-in cover that adds little thickness to it. The Satio is also similar to the SE Aino which is good in both the camera and music.
For photo and video shooting the Satio is equipped with a nice lens, assisted by Xenon flash and video light allows shooting pictures and video in low-light condition without problem. It also supports face detection, smile detection, touch focus, 12x digital zoom and image stabilization which are features commonly found on high-end digital cameras.
The Satio is equipped with a TFT 3.5 inch screen that boasts a resolution of 360×640 pixels. The screen is a touchscreen capable of 16 million colors, and the phone has a stylus that comes attached on a lanyard. The Symbian S60 5th edition is sensitive enough for your fingers, so it’s not a must to use a stylus on this phone. The phone UI also presents you an onscreen keyboard for texting and an onscreen number pad for makimng calls.
Other goodies include HSDPA, HSUPA, WiFi, Bluetooth A2DP connectivities, aGPS and a microSD card slot which are commonly found on today’s smart phones. But the little lacking is a 3.5mm headphone jack, meaning you must use a specific headphone on this phone. The SE Satio should be released in Q4 this year following the Aino.

You don’t necessarily have to buy a headphone that fits withe Sony Ericsson Aino you can also buy a converter jacktet which should cost about 3 euro at most. And finally Sony ericsson decided to leave their own proprietary standards concerning the memory of the phone. Swapping the memory stick for the Micro SD was the right thing to do. Indeed you don’t find phones with image stabilization that often. I’m really wondering what the price difference between the Satio and the Aino will be.
