MenQ EasyPC netbook, E102, is an unusual netbook that comes with a RISC (Reduced instruction set computer) processor that is compatible with the x-86 processor. There are two versions of processor for this netbook which are the 1.2GHz and 1.6GHz and they can support Windows XP.
But since the processor is based on RISC architecture, it also means not all XP applications are able to run on it. The reason that the company chose a RISC processor instead of the x86 chip from Intel, AMD or VIA could be the cost. As this netbook will be targeted at about $160 for dealer and the street price could be in between $200 to $300.
The EasyPC E102 netbook will come with a 10.2-inch screen with 1024×600 resolution, a 4GB SSD or 160GB HDD, 256MB to 1GB RAM, 802.11 b/g WiFi, 3 USB ports, Ethernet, headphone and mic jacks, S/PDIF, a memory card reader and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. It’s packed with a 3-cell battery that allows it to run up to 4 hours. This E102 was spotted at IFA in Berlin, and no indication when it’ll hit the streets.
