The e-Blue Gladiator is a USB hard drive enclosure that comes with the hot-swap support. But it has the data safety and environment in mind, especially takes care of data write cycle when a hard drive is removed.
Most hot-swappable hard drive enclosures will drop the connection which will then corrupt the data writes when a hard drive is unplugged or removed from the bay. But the e-Blue Gladiator enclosure will ensure the data write cycle is completed first before it releases the drive. So, there will be no data corruption, when a drive is being removed from the bay. There is a touch sensor button on top, which activates the motorized door to expose the drive.
The e-blue Gladiator enclosure also comes with other smart features, such as the advanced hibernate feature that powers down the drive when the HDD is idle or not in use, but maintains the drive’s presence as a external hard drive on the PC. The drive is powered on as soon as a request is made to it. It also features the Turbo USB mode, which should boost performance for up to 40% but should require drivers for most computers.
The name e-Blue Gladiator has won it the Random Product Name Award in September. The breakdown of this cool name, could be E means Eco, as its advanced hibernate mode helps preserving power, Blue means any style or fashion, Gladiator should be great for data protection although it does not possess a sword.
