Sirius XM SkyDock is a new accessory for the iPhone or iPod touch which turns the Apple gadgets into a satellite radio. The device also features a built-in FM transmitter that allows you to send the tunes to your car stereo.
The transmission of music to your car stereo by the Sirius XM SkyDock is based on the new technology, called the PowerConnect which transmits the music directly to the car stereo through the car’s electronics rather than over the air. This shall give better reception and better audio quality.
The Sirius XM SkyDock plugs into your car’s cigarette lighter socket for taking the required power. It also charges your iPhone while it’s in use. The XM SkyDock needs to work with the free Sirius FM iPhone App that is downloadable from iTunes. But you will need to have this app running in order to receive the satellite radio as Apple does not allow app to run at background. The device costrs $120 plus a monthly subscription fee of $13 per month.
