Square – an iPhone payment application that comes with a credit card reader which fits into the jack of the iPhone or iPod Touch to work as a portable credit card swiper. The Square iPhone payment system has gone for an alpha test at the recently opened New York store, Self Edge.
The card’s swipe data is transferred to the application on the iPhone, followed by an employee of the store entering the amount needs to pay, and then the customer will confirm the transaction by scrawling their signature with their finger.
The Square iPhone paymentsystem keeps the entire payment process paperlessm and it sends the digital receipt to the customer via email. Since it is a portable system, it also enables hawkers in the street to receive payments by credit card.
