Seiko Earthquake-aware wall clocks
Japan is an earthquake-prone country, therefore every household is recommended to adopt earthquake-related home safety gadgets. Here come two models of the Seiko earthquake-activated wall clocks, the wood framed KX329B and plastic framed KX330P, which have been designed to double as an emergency lighting when earthquake hits and knocks out the home’s electrical lighting.

These Seiko Wall clocks are equipped with vibration sensor which reacts to least-moderate earthquake and automatically turns on the white LED that lights up the face of the clock. Both clocks need 5 AA alkaline batteries to run, and these batteries shall last up to one year in normal use.

The Seiko Wall clocks are also able to automatically adjust to accurate Japan Standard Time, which they can remotely tune into either one of the clearer stations – Fukushima station (40kHz) or the Kyushu Bureau (60kHz), for synchronizing the time.

The two clocks will be available in Japan in October this year. The wood-framed version will cost 14,700 yen (about $155), while the plastic-frame-version will cost 12,600 yen (about $132).
