Panasonic has recently released two new AVCHD camcorders, HDC-SD10 and HDC-TM10, claimed to be the lightest in the world to date. These two camcorders weigh a mere 0.5 lbs. And I think you should be able to feel its weight by taking a look how it peacefully rests on the palm above.
The two models have only one difference between them which is they use different recording media. The HDC-SD10 records to an SDHC/SD Memory Card, while the HDC-TM10 is a Twin memory type which is capable of recording to both an 8GB built-in Memory and an SDHC/SD Memory Card.
The HDC-TM10 has the Relay Recording function which allows automatic switch from the built-in 8GB memory to the external SDHC/SD memory card when the built-in memory is full. The two camcorders are packed with nice features, nothing has been slashed even though they’re super lightweight. Both camcorders feature 16x optical zoom supported by an Advanced Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.) function to minimize hand-shake while zooming.

The two camcorders also have active mode which extends the hand-shake correction range to allow the shooting of clear, crisp images while walking or moving. Other goodies include face detection, Intelligent Contrast Control, Intelligent Scene Selector and also AF/AE Tracking, which tracks focus of moving subject automatically.
The camcorders also feature a touchscreen display for easy operation. And they also have built-in video light and flash for shooting in low-light environment. Both camcorders have fast power-on time of 1.9 second and Pre-Rec function to minimize the chance that a shooter to miss a great shot.
The HDC-SD10 will be available in black for a price of USD$549.95, while the HDC-TM10 is slightly expensive, costs $599.95 and will be available in both silver and black. These two super light models will surface in September this year.
