Green Helmet generates electricity from wind
Taiwanese students at Cheng Shiu University have developed a new helmet that harnesses the wind power to generate electricity to power various accessories of a bike such as the headlights, tail lights and direction indication lights.

This green helmet is equipped with a set of 5 turbines which can generate electricity when the bike travels in the wind. The helmet has also four internal batteries that can store up the juice generated by the wind, which can then transmit to the two wheelers lights.

Currently, the helmet is still in its prototype stage. The electronics alone used within this helmet costs not more than $30. But the students are still making improvement, hopefully to produce much smaller wind turbines and batteries that should reduce the weight of the helmet.
