Southern California Edison (SCE) had made a breakthrough in EV battery development. Their new Li-ion batteries for electric vehicles are claimed to be able to last for more than 12 years.
The SCE’s car batteries are claimed to last 180,000 miles without any significant deterioration. This means if an average driver who drives for not more than 15,000 miles a year would be able to use the car for more than 12 years without the need for a battery change.
Some more these new Li-ion batteries also come in much smaller size, which are only one-sixth the size of an actual battery used in plug-in hybrid vehicles driven today.
