
Pharos Traveler 137 GPS smartphone has earlier showcased at CES this year and now it’s been officially released by the company. The phone is equipped with an integrated assisted GPS and hybrid navigation software which can be used even without connecting to the carrier network.
The Traveler 137 smartphone allows turn by turn navigation and also has voice prompt capability. The handset is also equipped with a number of navigation buttons located below its 800×480 touchscreen. It runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro and is ready for future upgrade to version 6.5.
Other goodies are a 3-megapixel camera on the back and a 0.3 megapixel camera on the front for video calls. It’s also got 256MB of RAM and 512MB of flash ROM and allows memory expansion via its microSD/SDHC slot.
The Traveler 137 smartphone is to be shipped unlocked, with support of quad-band for GSM, EDGE and tri-band 3G/UMTS and even high-speed connectivity HSDPA (7.2 Mbps) and HSUPA (2 Mbps). Suggested retail price of this device is $600. For those who’re willing to be bound by a T-Mobile 2-year contract will get a $250 discount.
