HDMI over powerline system allows HD video to be transmitted over power lines. This means, there isn’t a need for dedicated HDMI cable to connect between the HDTV and the AV player.
Both the HDTV and the AV player are only plugged into the wall outlets for power as usual, and HD video content from the player can then magically appear on the HDTV. Averlogic has developed a system that is close to what was mentioned here. The Averlogic system allows the transmission of 1080p24 video with 5.1 audio over standard power lines.
Currently, the Averlogic system still needs a box at each end of transmissions but hopefully someone in the future will eliminate the additional boxes currently needed, and build the components into the AV player and HD display.
The Averlogic system can send the AV content out to three receivers, which then output the signal either by HDMI, component or composite. The transmitter has three HDMI inputs and one set of component and composite each. No word on pricing for this system yet.
