Sony Ericsson has officially announced two green cellphones, GreenHeart C901 and the NAITE. These two phones have been completely made with green mindset, which they’re made with green materials and even the packaging and shipping were said to produce 15% less carbon, compared to their previous phones in the same category.
Both phones have low-power chargers and the casings made from “a minimum of 50% recycled plastics”. SE is also being little “stingy” by not providing any printed copy of manual. All you can get is only the e-manual, which is SE’s idea to reduce paper usage by 90%. The phones also come in small packaging, which reduces transport-related CO2 emission by more than 80%.
The SE C901 GreenHeart comes in a candybar form factor, is basically a remake of the C901 Cybershot phone. So you’ll find the same features on the GreenHeart C901 including a QVGA display, accelerometer, HSDPA connectivity and a 5MP autofocus camera with Xenon flash. The GreenHeart C901 has a display that consumes less energy as its waterborne paint lowers exposure to Volatile Organic Compounds. The C901 will be available starting this quarter but the price has not been announced yet.
The Sony Ericsson Naite is also a candy-bar phone, it’ll be made available starting in the third quarter of 2009. Two versions will be available which are Vapour Silver and Ginger Red. The price also remains unknown at the moment. Specs are as follows:
