Most USB hubs allow a single computer to hook up to them and allow the computer to use those USB devices connected to the hub. But Elecom has a USB hub that is different from the usual i.e. it allows two computers to share the USB devices connected to it.
As shown above, the Elecom USB hub is connected to two computers, and you can have up to seven USB devices connected to the hub and share them between the two computers simultaneously. You can share USB keyboard and mouse between the two computers.
If you hooked up a USB monitor to this Elecom USB hub, you might be able to share the USB display between the two computers. So, it’d be able to work more or less like a KVM switch. It comes with a little change-over switch that allows easy swap-out of computers.
The Elecom USB hub (codenamed U2SW-B27SBK) will be available in Japan for 7,035 Yen (about $71) starting mid-May. It needs AC for its power and it works for both PC and Mac.
