Japan’s CFD has announced new line of solid state drives, the Interceptor SSDs. This new line comes with various choices of storage capacity including 32, 64, 128 and 256GB. And each of them measures 2.5 inch and boasts a multi-level-cell (MLC) NAND flash memory.
All these Interceptor SSDs come with SATA 3.0 Gbps interface and they have a 32MB cache memory. The price has not been announced yet. But the higher-capacity ones could be very expensive, compared to hard disk drives. They offer impressive read/write speeds. For the 32 and 64GB, you’ll get 200 / 95 MB/s for read/write. Whereas the 128 and 256GB models have 240 /150 MB/s for read/write. Each SSD is backed up 1 year warranty.
SSDs are definitely the ones to opt for, when the price has become affordable. They offer much higher read and write speeds, furthermore they have no moving parts which should be more tolerable to drops, best for careless users.
