Atlona has made it possible to stream high-def videos from your computer’s USB port wirelessly to HD display. They’ve announced their wireless USB to HDMI/VGA converter, called the HDAiR (HD content in the air).
The HDAiR will come with a transmitter that is to be hooked up to a computer’s USB port. And on the other end is a receiver that is connected to the HDMI port of your HDTV or projector, so HD content is able to stream over wirelessly. The HDAiR converter also has an VGA port on the receiver for those who have VGA-only displays.
The HDAiR is able to transmit HD content in the air for up to 30 feet and at resolutions up to 720p or 1440×1200, which should be more than sufficient for most applications. The Atlona HDAiR converter set is pretty easy to be installed for any consumer and commercial application.
The Atlona’s AT-HDAiR uses chipsets developed by Wisair, which is the company that initiated the wireless USB technology that allows the transmission of USB protocol over Ultra wide band (UWB) frequencies. The Atlona’s AT-HDAiR adapter is expected to hit the market in early May and expected to be priced at n MSRP of $199.00.
