Nikon has announced their latest entry DSLR, D5000, which comes packed with lots of features and priced under $1,000. The Nikon D5000 DSLR has a 12.3 megapixel sensor, a 2.7-inch swivel screen, capable of 720p video at 24fps (viewable over HDMI output) and stills at 4fps.
It’s powered by the EXPEED image processor and 3D Color Matrix Metering II, with built-in dust control systems and lots of scene modes and automatic settings. The swivel LCD screen may be useful for either providing settings or a new live view mode to compose shots from off-angle.
The D5000 has a number of improvements over the previous models of entry DSLRs from Nikon. Such as the light sensitivity which is now able to reach up to ISO 3,200 in normal shooting and up to ISO 6,400 in an extended mode. The number of auto-focusing points has also been improved from just 3 to 11. And it’s been added with 3D tracking that allows to track moving subject and allows blacketing.

Nikon expects to start shipping the D5000 in May and will price it at about $850 bundled with an 18-55mm VR lens kit. For the body alone, it will be priced at about $730.
