Asus have announced they’re going to incorporate the Intel anti-theft technology into their upcoming P-series of notebooks. The anti-theft software on laptops is able to prevent the data from being stolen, by letting the owner of the notebook to send a “poison pill” remotely, so the laptop hardware will get locked down, and the entire notebook cannot be operated again, unless it’s back to hands of the owner.
The poison pill system allows the owner to send the laptop into a state that stops working completely. And when the laptop is returned to the owner, there is a need for a pass phrase to get the laptop back to working state. For the thief, who does not have the pass phrase, they will not be able to get the laptop running, and they’ll be completely out of access to the data on the laptop.
The first few Asus P-series notebooks that are going to use the Intel anti-theft technology are the Asus P30 and P80 notebooks. These P-series notebooks will be an additionally secure platform for business users, especially those who’re so much concerned about their data or documents falling into the hands of their rivals. The P30 and P80 notebooks are available immediately with the Intel’s anti theft system installed.
