iPhone Skype app lets you make free VOIP calls over WiFi

skype-iphone-app
Skype has been released for the iPhone platform, which allows you to make Internet calls on the iPhone, saving you lots of phone bills. You can just hook up to a WiFi network and make Skype calls on the iPhone instead of making the normal phone calls via the mobile operator.

The Skype app on the iPhone works similarly to the version for the PC. You can chat with your Skype friends on your contact list, make free VOIP phone calls to your contacts over WiFi and also make Skype out calls. Unfortunately, the Skype on iPhone does not allow you to make Internet calls over 3G. This is actually because of the plan restriction imposed by your mobile operator. (Skype on G1 on the T-mobile allows you to make VOIP calls over 3G)

But there is no problem at all for you to use its chat feature – chat with your contacts via the Skype instant messaging allows you to save some cash for text messages as well. Overall, the app works pretty good, which is exactly like the PC version. To save your phone bills by making VOIP calls to your contacts, what you need is only to hook up to WiFi hotspot. The Skype iPhone app is now available for free download at iTunes store.
