The Acer Hornet nettop is a media box that has got many to talk about lately. And now it has more detailed specs leaked claiming that it allows you to have 1080p video playback over HDMI and the “Media center” version also works as a gaming console, comes with a Wii-like remote control.
The ion-based Acer nettop will be priced in the range of $149-$299. The low-end model would include an Intel Aton N230 processor, 1080p video playback over HDMI along with 1GB RAM and 80GB hard drive. The high-end model would have twice the RAM and the hard drive size of the low-end.
The low-end is to run Windows Vista Home Basic as the operating system, whereas the high-end is to have a “Boxshell” quickboot OS in addition to Vista Home Premium. The exact date of release of the Hornet nettop is still unknown.
