Diabetic iPhone users get LifeScan Diabetes Management app

The diabetics must be extra careful with the glucose levels in their blood. If you’re a iPhone user and the iPhone is always with you anywhere you go, it’ll be the easiest way to have your iPhone to keep track of your glucose levels while you’re on the run.

The LifeScan Diabetes Management app is being developed by a Johnson & Johnson company, which is an interesting and useful application that helps the diabetics to manage diabetes using the iPhone. The LifeScan app was presented too when Apple presented the blueprint for iPhone OS 3.0, the next version of iPhone OS.

The LifeScan app is still in its prototype stage. It allows iPhone to interface a glucose meter either via wireless Bluetooth or a cable, so a patient can keep track of the glucose levels and look at the historical patterns.

The LifeScan app is also able to calculate the sugar intake during meals, and helps the user to adjust the diet more precisely.

Apparently, this isn’t actually a product, nor does it have any immediate prospect of being a product. It’s July now, 3.0 is out, yet no iPhone LifeScan app. A closer googling of the excitement back in March discloses an interview with LifeScan:

“… not of a commercially imminent product …”
“… there’s still some refinement that needs to take place …”
“… Well, again, it’s still very early for us …”
” … That hasn’t been determined yet …” (how to share results with your doctor)

    Hype.
