ECG devices have been made with more compact size and portable, making them handy for clinicians to carry around, so they can always have heart check for patients while they’re on the run.
The GE Healthcare’s MAC 800 ECG is a portable one but carries all the features of a full size ECG. This device has just passed the test of FDA. The MAC 800 ECG is relatively lightweight, comes equipped with a cell phone style keyboard that saves lots of space and makes it size smaller than a full-size ECG.
The MAC 800 portable ECG was initially made for the Chinese market, but now it’ll be marketed in the US as well. This portable ECG weighs under 7 pounds when battery is included, which very much lighter than a full size ECG that usually weighs around 65 pounds. The unit is integrated with a handle, enabling clinicians to carry it like a briefcase. It relies on the lithium ion battery for its power, which can last up to 2 hours and take up to 4 hours to recharge.
The MAC 800 portable ECG also offers various connectivities for transferring the data in it for further analysis. You can send those ECG data via LAN, SD card or serial port. It also offers the option of a PDF or XML output for universally recognized storing and data sharing. It also works well with various vendors’ EMR solutions via the Cardiosoft, the GE’s cardiology information software system, to create a fully digital ECG workflow.
