We’ve seen the Zypad WL 1000 wrist-worn computer before, and now Zypad has got another new model, Zypad WR1100, which comes in a ruggedized form, that is best for those who work in harsh environments.
The Zypad WR1100 runs a custom Linux OS, features a 3.5-inch touchscreen display that has 640×480 resolution and capable of automatic contrast mode that allows it to be seen even in direct sunlight. This wrist-worn computer is housed in a fiberglass-reinforced nylon/magnesium alloy case, making it a durable yet lightweight one. And it’s rugged enough to withstand the tests of water, dust, extreme temperatures, and many other harsh operaing conditions.
The Zypad WR 1100 comes with features that are most needed for communication in the battlefield. Such as it supports everything from GPS to WiFi to even Bluetooth and Zigbee support, allowing users to communicate with others and other devices while they’re “in the field”. The WR1100 weighs 652 g (23 Oz), which is little heavy for strapping it on your wrist. But it should be a more convenient one than a PDA in your pocket, as it’s right on your wrist whenever you need it for urgent communications and other operations.
