Human will likely get fed up of having to carry out the tiring gardening jobs by themselves. Instead, they need some robots to do the gardening jobs, including tending the gardens, growing fresh fruits and vegetables. And we, human can then sit back, do nothing, just wait for the harvesting season to come and enjoy eating those fruits.

Having robot gardeners is a good idea, and MIT’s Computer Science and AI Lab have managed to make a reality by having created some robots that can tend tomato plants. The plants need to be equipped with soil sensors in order to communicate with the robot gardeners when they need water and nutrients.

With the robot gardeners, we can all sit back, relaxed and wait for the fruitful season to come. And the robots will be harvesting those fruits and delivering them to us. They have watering pumps and arms that can gently pick cherry tomatoes.

The goal of the project is to develop a fully autonomous greenhouse, to enable plants and the robotic gardeners to communicate. Check out the video below of the gardening bots in action.
