The future laptops will come with an embedded balanced antenna for digital TV. As Intel has become the first company to have developed an embedded DTV antenna for laptops.
This allows laptop users to receive digital TV broadcast, whenever you feel like. Such as when you’re stuck in an airport or when the day is too boring, you’ll be able to enjoy watching digital TV on your laptop screen without needing to buy an external antenna.
The Embedded Balanced Antenna consists of two cables that snake within the chasis of laptop or portable gadgets. Intel claims that this is the first system and have already applied for the patent. Intel’s idea is to reduce the number of items that a laptop users need to buy, carry or keep track (You know, you’ll always lose such a small accessory of your laptop).
Intel will also build DTV receiver chips into their upcoming chipsets, and standardize the format, complete with antenna. So, the upcoming Centrino platform will not only include WiFi connectivity but likely a DTV reception too.
