i-Mate has announced the Centurion, a credit-card-sized smartphone at the MWC 2009. The phone is obviously named after the American Express’ Black Card, Centurion. The company has also unveiled the Warrior laptop shell, which allows a contained smartphone to remotely access a PC or Mac.

The company has another smartphone, called Legionnaire, a touchscreen handset, which would fit into the laptop shell, as the brain to provide it with processing power and also act as a touchpad. Both the Centurion and Legionnaire come with high-speed HSPA connectivity support, GPS, Bluetooth, and microSDHC card slot.
The two smartphones of i-mate are to run the latest Windows Mobile 6.5 as the operating system. The Centurion comes equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, but unfortunately it does not support WiFi connectivity. It could be due to the compact size that the Centurion needs to sacrifice WiFi for the 2-megapixel camera. The Legionnaire is powered by an 800MHz chip, which is able to provide notebook-like performance.
The Warrior laptop shell has a 10-inch screen with 4:3 aspect ratio. It does not have a hard drive. Instead it’s got an SD card reader for keeping its projected price down to about $200. The i-mate devices shall arrive in UK around the summertime or by end of summer. The Centurion is likely to cost about $550 with no string attached.

Thats neat, but I am shocked that it doesn’t support wi-fi. I thought today that would be standard by now?!
