Solar-powered cellphone is the newest race among the phone makers. For not to be left behind by the Samsung’s Blue Earth, LG Electronics has also unveiled its own solar-powered cell phone.
The LG solar-powered cell phone comes with an array of tiny solar cells built into the cover of the phone. This LG phone needs to be exposed to the sun for a mere ten minutes to store up juice enough for a 3-minute phone call. At the moment the pricing and availability still remain unknown.
Besides cellphones, LG has also other green initiative such as they’ve produced their solar-powered Bluetooth HFB-500 car kit, which was unveiled at CES 2009. The device needs only sun juice to allow users to talk on the phone with the hands free and kept on the wheel. LG has also made some eco-friendly packing for their mobile phone products such as packaging made from recycled paper and cardboard without laminate coating, and printed with soy inks etc.
