If you’re a hardcore shooter and you wanna show off what you’re shooting with your camcoder and live stream it over to your loved ones to watch, the Sony LocationPorter will be the device that you need.

The LocationPorter can let your camcorder or camera connect to it, and it’ll then be able to stream the video via Internet connection such as 3G or wired or WiFi LAN. On the other side, if your loved ones have another LocationPorter that is attached to a display unit, they’ll then be able to watch in live of what you’re shooting using your camcoder or camera.

The device allows the streaming of HD content over one or two 3G connections. For a single 3G, you can only expect it to stream video at the resolution of 352×240 at 5 to 15 fps at the speed of 64 to 160kbps. If you have two 3G cards, you can stream at the same resolution and rate, and to reach a speed of 320kbps. But with a LAN, you’ll get much higher speed at 1024kbps and up to 30fps. The device employs the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC as main profile for the Codec.

The LocationPorter is best used by reporters for the handiness of streaming live video over. Just insert two 3G cards, so you’ll get more comfortable speeds of streaming HD content over from remote sites.
