On the Inauguration day of president Obama, a super high-res, 1,474 megapixel photo was captured using the Canon G10 camera and a GigaPan Imager. Now, the GigaPan Epic Imager which automated the shooting process, has been made available for commercial sale.
The GigaPan Imager is said to work with most point and shoot cameras. It’s actually an accessory for a camera, which is a robotic mount that automates the picture taking process. And it comes with fully integrated software that works seamlessly with GigaPan.org – the online service that lets users upload, share and explore pictures up to gigapixel.
The inaugural photos was composed of 220 shots, which actually relied on the GigaPan imager to automate the continuous taking of the 200 over shots. And the great news is now this GigaPan Epic is available for commercial for a price of $379. If you want a more powerful version, the GigaPan Epic 100, to suit larger point-and-shoot camera, is also coming its way for a price of $449.
