Fujitsu has announced a couple of smart air conditioners, which can sense the presence of the users and switch on only when the users are present, to save more power.
These air conditioners are specially good for the forgetful ones, who always forget to turn off the air conditioner of a room when they’re leaving. The Fujitsu air conditioners are equipped with sensors which are able to detect the presence of movement and will switch off automatically when no one is present to save power.
The Fujitsu’s nocria S and nocria Z series are designed for large living rooms, whereas the J and R series are meant for smaller rooms. These smart air-conds come equipped with pyroelectric infrared sensor, which was developed by Fujitsu and their partner, Nippon Ceramic Co Ltd.
These air-conditioners are smart enough to learn that to release more coolness when there are more movements in a room – the temperature will be lowered when there are more people moving and it’s raised when no movement.
The air conditioner will automatically turn down, when a person is away more than 10 minutes, and it’ll turn itself completely off if the person does not return for 3 hours. This definitely reduces pretty much the wastage of power. There is no information for the price and availability yet. My guess is the price should be much higher than the average with the extra intelligence they have.
