Scientists are a step closer to making invisible man by having discovered a light-bending material that could make things disappear from sight.
The light-bending material is able to bend electromagnetic wave, which light is a type of electromagnetic waves visible to human eyes. Since this new material is able to bend EM wave, meaning it could be used to block electromagnetic interferences that affect cellphone communications which are commonly known as static.
The light-bending material is made from a so-called metamaterial — an engineered, exotic substance with properties not seen in nature. It can be used to form various cloaking structures that could bend light or completely eliminate EM interferences that impede cellphone communications.
The initial purpose of the research carried out by the researchers was to build cloaking device to make objects invisible. And they’re now moving along the EM spectrum, hoping to make cloaking device that blocks the interference of one mobile phone to the other mobile phone. And I believe there will be more useful applications coming built based on this EM-bending material.
