Couple of Netbooks, UMPC were spotted at CES 2009. I’ve gather here the EMTEC’s Gdium netbook, HP Mini 2140, Sony VAIO P-series and MBook M1 UMPC.
The EMTEC’s Gdium netbook (pictured above) is in dimensions of 9.6 x 7.2 x 1.5 inches, weighs 2.6 pounds. It’s equipped with a 10.1-inch with 1024 x 600 resolution and a full QWERTY. It’s bundled with a couple of open source software, such as Firefox, Thunderbird email client, instant messaging and VOIP support. It runs on optimized version of Mandriva Linux that is specially designed for a 64-bit system. The Gdium netbook is priced at $400 only. source
HP Mini 2140 Netbook – This HP Netbook comes with a 10.1-inch screen, uses 80GB solid state drive, and HP Driveguard for data loss protection. For the connectivities, it supports Bluetooth and WLAN. The great part is the QWERTY keyboard is about 92% of the size of a regular keyboard, making it comfortable enough for anyone to adapt to using it while switching over from a bigger computer. source
Sony VAIO P-series Netbook – Sony also launched their P-Series VAIO netbook at CES. It’s a highly pocketable mini computer comes with stylish design, which is slightly larger than office letter envelope. It weighs less than 640g, sports a full QWERTY, comes equipped with a high-res (1600×768) 8-inch X-Black LCD screen with power efficient LED backlight. It supports the 3G and Everywair WWAN connectivities. An 8-incher packed with a 1.6GHz processor, 128GB superfast SSD, webcam, GPS and 2GB of RAM. Available in high gloss piano finish, choose from red, dark green, black or white with matching cases and Bluetooth mice. source
MBook M1 – spotted at Intel booth at CES, this very little UMPC fits well on your palm. Similar to other UMPCs, it runs full version of Windows but the difference is this comes with a keyboard more usable and friendly to your fingers. It doesn’t come USB ports, due to its mini size, but this will definitely make it so hard for transferring data. source
