These days small office or home need a NAS (Network Attached storage) for storing and sharing their files. But if you wanna save your pocket from buying a NAS that may cost you more than $200, we have a quick solution here to show you which turns any external USB hard drive into a NAS.
The Addonics USB-to-NAS adapter is what you need to turn any of your external USB hard drive into a NAS. It’s an adapter that one end is a USB connector and the other end is an 10/100MBps Ethernet port. Once you’ve this adapter connected to the external USB hard drive, it’ll then have an Ethernet port for you to hook it up to your office or home LAN, so it’s now become a NAS by itself. And of course, this NAS is only made up of a single hard drive. You don’t get the advanced features such as multiple hard drives that support RAID 0,1 and 5 etc.
The Addonics NAS adapter is just the size of a C size battery. It’s able to supply a maximum of 1.5A at 5V, which is sufficient to power most power-hungry 2.5-inch USB hard drives. This little adapter can also be configured to provide many services, such as to be configured as a bit-torrent server, FTP server for maximum 8 users only, print server, or even a UPnP server for serving media files to PS3 and XBox 360 alike. The little adapter costs only $55, which is a quick solution turn any external USB hard drive or SSD into a networked central storage.
