We’ve told you that China is going to have its own Android-powered handset. And finally we have more facts here to show you that they really have one. It’s called the OPhone developed by Lenovo and China Mobile.
OPhone is the codename of this Chinese Android-powered handset. The phone is said to run the China Mobile’s OMS (Open Mobile System), which is their own modified version of Android operating system that is basically Android with added supports and apps for the TD-SCDMA – China’s home-grown 3G network.
China Mobile has been developing the OMS for quite some time. It is essential to have their own proprietary handset operating system in order to be dominance for the Chinese mobile phone market, so they could then gain better profit from it.
