If your dream was to become a pilot but you failed to do so for some unknown reasons. But you really wish that you could fly a plane one day, and you know some little skills and knowledge of flying a plane, then you could try the ICON A5.
The ICON A5 is a small two-seater floatplane that is specially designed for novice pilot. The idea of making this floatplane came from FAA creating a new Light Sport Aircraft category, hoping to make flying more accessible to general public.
Inside the ICON A5, it doesn’t look really much like a cockpit of an airplane. Instead it looks more like a car, with simple instrument panel and basic features. You get a joystick on the flying seat to control this plane, which shall present ways as simple as playing a flying simulation video game.
The ICON A5 float plane runs on unleaded petrol, the wings can be folded allowing it to be pulled behind a car or easily stored at home. The development team who made the ICON A5 is from Scaled Composites, who also designed the SpaceShipOne and SpaceShipTwo. So, this little plane that also comes out of their hands shall have been emphasized with safety and good quality.
But too bad is ICON A5 carries a huge price tag of $139,000, which is far out of reach for average guys.
