Tikitag is the first commercially available DIY RFID tag kit which you can use to tag any everyday items and enable these items to be traceable or accessible for the information via any online electronic applications.
The Tikitags employ the Near Fields Communications Technology (NFC), which you just need to stick one of these RFID tags to any item, and you can then get onto www.tikitag.com, to enter unlimited information of that item. Any online NFC-compliant reader can then be used to read the Tikitag of the item.
For example, a Tikitag is added to a business card and once it is read by an online NFC reader, it can then be linked to further information of the person and even to the person’s Facebook account. An NFC reader can also be an NFC-enabled cellphone. Or in other situation, an art painting has been tagged with the Tikitag, you can also use your NFC-enabled cellphone to scan on the tag to find out more information about the painting.
The Tikitag is now available at Firebox for a price of £39.95 a set. The set contains a USB NFC reader and 10 DIY NFC tags. These tags need no power or batteries to run.
