The Earth will soon be running out of drinking or usable water very soon. Whether you like it or not, the scientists are trying their best to produce so-called Urine Recycling machine, which is to turn your urine, sweat and moisture into drinking water.
Okay, that was a joke. We’re not up to the worst stage yet that we have to turn urine into drinking water. But the mentioned Urine Converter is a useful equipment to be used in space shutter, which is for the astronauts to turn their own urine, sweat and any moisture to fulfill their thirst when traveling into space.
The water-recycling system is worth $154 million, under NASA’s care and has been tested by International Space Station (ISS) astronauts that it successfully turned urine into drinking water, which is deemed essential hydration for future astronauts. They had a successful 5-hour run of this machine, and another 3-hour run after it cooled down.
This water recycling system/urine converter is part of a $250 million regenerative life support system designed to sustain larger space station crews with fewer supply drop-offs from visiting spacecraft.
